News Briefs:

Local Geosciences firm works with Kitsap County Parks and Recreation Department to help restore Anderson Point Park access road.

May 25, 2006:  Last winter's heavy rainfall caused several slides along the access road to Anderson Point Saltwater Park, resulting in its closure by the Department of Parks and Recreation. The County has been looking for ways to remediate this road which many hikers and beachgoers use to access the Puget Sound tidelands along the west side of Colvos Passage. The consulting firm, Craig K. White. Inc. was retained by the County to perform initial feasibility studies which will result in specific recommendations to remove slide materials and repair the road.

Permitting Under Way for Two Local Multi-Family Housing Developments

Two multi-family housing developments are currently in the permitting stage with Kitsap County's Planning Department. One of the developments is located in the Ridgetop area, off Ridgepoint Drive and could include as many as eight new duplexes, the other planned development is in east Bremerton off Dawn Rd. where up to eight triplexes are planned by Downeast Development Corp. Site development engineering is being done on both projects by JB Engineering Consultants in Silverdale while geotechnical site evaluations are being performed by Craig K. White, Inc. (Silverdale).
